Query

Query is an application for testing YQL (Yahoo! Query Language) statements on your Mac.

A short introduction to YQL:

YQL provides a versatile, high-level interface to the data available on the Internet. Using YQL, you can access a wide range of general format data such as xml, json, rss, atom, etc. This interface is extended by context-specific tables such as flickr.places.info, upcoming.events, or zillow.search, to name a few.

Yahoo! offers a fair number of core tables built in to the API. The API is further augmented by additional table definitions authored by an active community of third-party developers.

You can see for yourself the power of YQL in Yahoo!’s official console.

Query provides access to YQL outside of a web browser. While Query does not intend to replace Yahoo’s official console, it is designed to support the same tasks in ways a typical Mac app would. Query will be an effective component in your workflow if you rely on your Mac a lot (who doesn’t?).

Query is a freeware.
